In addition to Rupiah, Jenius offers a choice of foreign currency balances that can be used for m-Card transactions and storing funds in foreign currencies.
1. Login to Jenius app.
2. Choose Card Center menu.
3. Choose m-Card.
4. Click Activate on the currency you want to choose.
5. Choose your Activation purpose.
6. Input the amount of money you want to buy, then choose Next.
7. Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions, then choose Activate.
You can also activate your foreign currency balance on Total Balance widget on the dashboard page.
Here are the benefits you will get after activating the foreign currency balance:
You can make foreign currency transactions (buy & sell) during weekdays/office day (Monday – Friday) at 09.00 – 15.00 WIB, except on public holiday.
You can check the foreign currency rates through Jenius Help on the Exchange & Simulation Rates menu. Here you can see the exchange rates that apply on that day.
The Jenius exchange rate will be applied when you sell or buy foreign currencies from Jenius app.
Visa exchange rates will apply for all transactions using Jenius Debit Cards (m-Card, x-Card and/or e-Card) such as cash withdrawals at ATMs, payments to merchants using the Visa Contactless system, or POS (point of sale) payments and online payments in e-Commerce.
You can see the details of your foreign currency balance through Jenius app dashboard page or through your m-Card details in Card Center menu.
1. Choose Card Center menu.
2. Choose m-Card.
3. Choose the foreign currency balance you want to connect with your m-Card.
4. Tap on the 3 (three) dots next to the foreign currency.
5. Choose Link to m-Card.
When you make a transaction, the fund that will be debited from your balance/currency is the one that is linked to your m-Card. If the currency that is currently connected is USD, for example, the balance to be withdrawn is your USD balance.
If you m-Card is linked to Indonesian rupiah (IDR) when you make a transaction abroad, let’s say in a country where USD is being used, then the fund in your balance will be converted to USD and that transaction will debit your money from that IDR balance based on the conversion.
Yes. If the balance that is currently connected to m-Card is any foreign currency balance (USD/SGD/JPY/GBP/AUD/EUR/HKD), transactions such as top-up e-Wallet, transfers to intrabank bank or interbank will still deduct your IDR currency balance.
All savings or money you withdraw from Save It feature, x-Card or e-Card will be added to your IDR Active Balance, even though the balance that is linked to m-Card is a foreign currency one.
No. You can buy or sell foreign currency (USD, SGD, JPY, GBP, AUD, EUR, HKD) without any need to inking the foreign currency balances to your m-Card first.
No. The money will be debited from the balance that is linked to your m-Card regardless of which currency you’re transacting.
Therefore, make sure the foreign currency balance that you want to use is connected to your m-Card before making a transaction.
Yes, there is a minimum deposit when you activate a foreign currency balance in Jenius, with details as follow:
1. United States dollar: 10 USD
2. Singapore dollar: 10 SGD
3. Japanese yen: 1000 JPY
4. British Pound sterling: 10 GBP
5. Australian Dollar: 10 AUD
6. Euro: 10 EUR
7. Hong Kong Dollar: 100 HKD
The minimum amount required for buying and selling your foreign currency balances are 1 USD, 1 SGD, 1 JPY, 1 GBP, 1 AUD, 1 EUR, and 1 HKD.
You can exchange rupiah (IDR) to all foreign currencies with accumulation up to 20,000 USD per month and there is no maximum limit for selling foreign currencies in Jenius app.

Yes. You can still make a transfer and top up e-Wallet using your rupiah balance (IDR) when the balance connected to m-Card is a foreign currency balance.
No. You can only sell and buy foreign currency balances in Jenius app.
No. Make sure your balance that is currently connected to your m-Card is rupiah balance (IDR) to make a transfer through Jenius app.
No, you can’t. Jenius Foreign Currency Balances cannot be withdrawn through BTPN branch offices or tellers.
The foreign exchange rates change every day according to economic and market conditions. Before making a foreign currency transaction, you should check the prevailing exchange rate on that day through the Exchange Rate & Simulation option on the Jenius Help menu in the Jenius app. Please note that there will be rounding for the 2 decimal digits.
To find out whether a transaction with a Foreign Currency Balance is successful or not, you can check your In & Out regularly.

4. Select the Transaction tab.
Currently, you can only check your rupiah (IDR) balance through any ATMs located in Indonesia.
Ant transactions, including balance checking, at any ATMs in Indonesia, will be rejected if your m-Card is linked to one of your foreign currencies. You can see your foreign currency balances in your Jenius app.
It could be any transactions using Jenius Debit Cards when a foreign currency is linked to your m-Card.
– Overseas e-Commerce payment,
– cash withdrawal at overseas ATMs,
– transaction with m-Card on overseas EDC machines.
The transaction will be rejected if foreign currency balance is connected to m-Card and you make a transaction on Bersama/Prima network in Indonesia.
However, if the balance that is currently connected to your m-Card is a foreign currency balance and you make a transaction with rupiah (IDR) in Indonesia using Visa network then the transaction will succeed.
E.g. Shopping via e-Commerce using Visa network.
No. You can’t make transactions on an EDC machine in Indonesia when your m-Card is linked to your foreign currency balance.
Yes. You can make transactions at any EDC machines and ATMs abroad when your m-Card is linked to your foreign currency balance.
No. You cannot make cash withdrawals at any ATMs in Indonesia when your m-Card is linked to your foreign currency balance.
Yes. The additional fees for foreign currency cash withdrawal transactions abroad are determined by the currency that is linked to your m-Card. Additional fees will be charged when the transaction happens, with the detailed costs as follow:
1. United States dollar: 1,5 USD
2. Singapore dollar: 2.5 SGD
3. Japanese yen: 200 JPY
4. British Pound sterling: 1,5 GBP
5. Australian Dollar: AUD2.5
6. Euro: EUR2
7. Hong Kong Dollar: HKD15
Note: additional fees on foreign currency cash withdrawals at foreign ATMs can be more than the details above, depending on the policy of the bank where you do the cash withdrawal.
If your m-Card is linked to the currency of the country where you do the shopping, then the amount to be withdrawn from the saving will be exactly the same as your shopping bill.
You can use your foreign currency balance and Indonesia currency (IDR) balance to make transactions in all foreign e-Commerce sites, while you’re in Indonesia or while you’re abroad.
In addition, you can make payments using rupiah (IDR) or foreign currency that is linked to m-Card to make transactions in Indonesian e-Commerce as long as the chosen payment method uses the Visa network.
Yes, if the currency that is connected to your m-Card is IDR, the payment will immediately be converted to the applicable currency.
If you use USD, SGD, JPY, GBP, AUD, EUR or HKD then the currency will be converted to IDR first, then it will be converted to the applicable currency in that e-Commerce site where you make the payment.
You will receive money in rupiah (IDR) currency and it will be added to your rupiah (IDR) balance. Even though your m-Card/Active Balance is linked to any foreign currencies.
Yes. When you make overseas transactions using an EDC machine with your rupiah (IDR) currency balance, your rupiah (IDR) currency will be converted to the valid foreign currency in that country where that transaction happens. So, it is still possible.
Purchasing foreign currency as a deposit is one way to activate a foreign currency balance in your Jenius app.
No. For now, you can only sell your foreign currency to rupiah first before you can buy other foreign currencies (USD, SGD, JPY, GBP) in Jenius app.
Note: Foreign currencies that are available in Jenius include USD (United States dollar), SGD (Singapore dollar), JPY (Japanese Yen), GBP (British pound sterling), AUD (Australian dollar), EUR (Euro), and HKD (Hong Kong dollar).
This could happen because the exchange rates keep changing any time according to the economic conditions and Bank of Indonesia policies.

No. You can only see the exchange rate simulations from foreign currencies to rupiah (IDR) and the other way around.
For now, all foreign currencies you save in Jenius will not receive any interest (0%).
Yes. Transactions with Jenius Pay will still be able to withdraw your IDR currency even though your m-Card/Active Balance is still connected to any foreign currencies.
No, all membership subscription transactions will be accepted, as long as the payment method you choose is Visa network.
Yes. You can still make transactions to Activate, Sell and Buy foreign currency when your m-Card is Temporarily Blocked.
Whereas, if your m-Card is Permanently Blocked, you can only sell or buy foreign currencies.
