Foreign Currency is available for all Jenius users with an active m-Card.

Is Foreign Currency automatically available?

The 9 (nine) foreign currencies in Foreign Currency feature are available automatically, but you need to activate them before using.

What Foreign Currencies are available on Jenius?

Foreign Currency feature on Jenius app offers USD (United States dollar), SGD (Singapore dollar), AUD (Australian dollar), HKD (Hong Kong dollar), GBP (British pound sterling), JPY (Japanese yen), EUR (Euro), THB (Thailand baht), and CNY (Chinese yuan).

Where to find Foreign Currency on Jenius app?

– On Home page, above Active Balance.

What is the difference between CNY (Chinese Yuan) and CNH (Chinese Yuan – offshore) in Jenius?

Both CNY and CNH are Chinese Yuan (RMB). The difference lies in how and where they are used.

CNY (Chinese Yuan) is the official symbol of China’s currency and is known as the “Yuan.” This currency is used within China or Mainland China. CNY is subject to export-import restrictions imposed by the Chinese government.

Meanwhile, CNH (Chinese Yuan Hong Kong) is a currency traded outside Mainland China. CNH is freely traded in currency markets around the world.

Technically, Jenius provides the service of buying and selling CNH according to applicable regulations. The buying and selling rates used are in CNH. However, for the app’s display, Jenius uses CNY because it is more commonly known to the general public.

How to activate Foreign Currency on Jenius?

– On Home page of Jenius app, tap the + sign above Active Balance box.
– Choose foreign currency you want to activate.
– Choose activation purpose from the available options (saving/investment, business transactions, or personal transactions).
– Input the amount of your first balance (make sure you leave at least 3% from the Active Balance), then choose Continue.
– Make sure your personal data is up to date, agree to the Terms & Conditions, then choose Activate XXX (note: the words on the activation button follow the currency to be activated).
– Enter Jenius password, then choose Submit.
– You have successfully activated Foreign Currency.

– From Wealth page, go to Cash menu, then tap Activate foreign currency.
– From Mobius Button, tap Move Balance, tap the down arrow on To, then tap Activate foreign currency.

How much is the first balance amount to activate Foreign Currency on Jenius?

The first balance to activate Foreign Currency is affordable, starting from 10 USD, 10 SGD, 10 AUD, 10 EUR, 10 GBP, 100 HKD, 1,000 JPY, 100 THB, and 100 CNY.

Are there any activation fees for Foreign Currency on Jenius?

No. You just have to make sure your first balance meets the minimum requirement.

Is there operating hours to activate Foreign Currency on Jenius?

Yes. You can activate Foreign Currency on Jenius app from Monday to Friday at 09.00 – 21.00 WIB, except on national holidays.

Do I have to activate all Foreign Currencies on Jenius?

The choice is yours. You can choose to activate just one, two, or even all of them.

Can I get a simulation of the Foreign Currency exchange rates before activating?

Yes. You can see today’s exchange rates and get an exchange rate simulation before transacting by following these steps.

How to buy Foreign Currency on Jenius?

There is three access to buy Foreign Currency on Jenius app.
– On Home page, above the Active Balance.
– On Wealth page, go to Cash menu.
– On Mobius Button, choose Move Balance.

For your information, you can only buy Foreign Currency using IDR Active Balance.

How to buy Foreign Currency from Home page?

– Above the Active Balance, choose Foreign Currency you want to buy.
– Choose Buy.
– Input the amount you want to buy (make sure you leave at least 3% from the Active Balance), then choose Next.
– Agree to the statements on the confirmation page, then choose Buy.
– You’ve successfully purchased Foreign Currency!

How to buy Foreign Currency from Wealth page?

– On the bottom navigation, choose Wealth.
– Go to Cash menu, scroll down to Active Balance then choose Foreign Currency you want to buy.

You just have to open Foreign Currency feature, activate the foreign currency you want, then buy foreign currency to add money to your saving balance.

Does Foreign Currency savings on Jenius has interest?

Yes and for USD only. You will get 3% p.a. interest, start from March 2023.

Interest rates can change at any time according to bank policies, and if there are changes, they will be informed according to applicable regulations.

Other than USD, Foreign Currency savings on Jenius don’t have interest.

Is there a minimum balance to get 3% interest p.a. in Foreign Currency savings (USD only)?

No. You will get 3% p.a. interest in Foreign Currency savings (USD only) without a minimum balance.

Is there any additional fee to get 3% interest p.a. in Foreign Currency savings (USD only)?

No. You will get 3% p.a. interest in Foreign Currency savings (USD only) without any additional fee.

How to sell Foreign Currency on Jenius?

Yes. You can use Foreign Currency for cash withdrawals and transactions after you link it to your m-Card.

Why do I have to link Foreign Currency to my m-Card if I want to do cash withdrawals and transactions?

Because your m-Card is by default linked to IDR Active Balance.

If you want to use Foreign Currency for cash withdrawals or transactions, you need to link the required Foreign Currency to m-Card.

After completing transactions with foreign currencies, make sure to re-link IDR Active Balance to your m-Card.

How to link Foreign Currency to my m-Card on Home page?

What benefits will I get by linking Foreign Currency to my m-Card?

You can keep the value of your money optimal by not having to do a conversion each time you transact. Instead, you can withdraw cash or make transactions using the foreign currency of the country you visit.

Do I have to link Foreign Currency to my m-Card before going abroad? Can I link it when I arrive at the destination country?

You can link Foreign Currency to m-Card anytime, anywhere.

Link it once you arrive? You sure can!

You can even link Foreign Currency to your m-Card and use it for online transactions even though you are in Indonesia.

What will happen if I make transactions abroad but haven’t linked Foreign Currency to my m-Card?

If your abroad transaction happened when your m-Card is currently linked to IDR Active Balance, the transaction will be converted from Rupiah to the foreign currency that is used in that country and will be debited from the IDR Active Balance.

Conversion from rupiah to currency in that country follows the applicable fees and exchange rates.

When I make a transaction in the United States and I haven’t linked the USD balance to my m-Card, will the money be debited from my USD balance?

No. The money will be debited from the balance linked to your m-Card regardless of which currency you transact. Therefore, make sure to link the right currency to your m-Card before making a transaction.

When I use my m-Card abroad, the EDC/ATM machine provides a conversion option for processing transactions. Which option should I choose?

First, ensure the Foreign Currency of that country is linked to your m-Card.

If the foreign currency is linked, choose to keep using the local currency/exchange rate so that your transaction is processed with a Foreign Currency already linked to the m-Card.

Do not select the currency/exchange rate according to the billing country as this will convert your transaction to Rupiah.

When Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card and I want to transfer money, pay bills, or top up e-wallet on Jenius app, will the transaction deduct the Foreign Currency balance?

No. Even though Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card, transactions such as top up e-wallets, money transfers, and bill payments still use IDR Active Balance.

If I make a transaction using Jenius Pay when Foreign Currency is linked to my m-Card, will the transaction deduct IDR Active Balance?

Yes. Transactions with Jenius Pay will deduct IDR Active Balance even though Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card.

Will my membership subscription payment fail if, on the billing date, my Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card?

No, all membership subscription transactions will be accepted as long as the payment method you choose uses the Visa network.

If I withdraw money from my savings or e-Card and x-Card when Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card, which balance will that money be added?  Does the money automatically go into Foreign Currency balance?

The money you withdraw from savings, deposits, e-Card, or x-Card will remain in rupiah balances and be added to IDR Active Balance. Even though a Foreign Currency is linked to your m-Card.

If there is an incoming transfer to my Jenius account when Foreign Currency is linked to the m-Card, what currency will I receive?

You will receive rupiah currency and added to IDR Active Balance according to the nominal transfer sent even though the Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card.

If I make a transaction in a currency that is not yet listed as a Jenius foreign currency, at which exchange rate will I be charged?

Visa exchange rates will apply for all transactions using Jenius Debit Cards (m-Card, x-Card and/or e-Card) for cash withdrawals, payments to merchants using the Visa Contactless system abroad, or POS (point of sale) payments, and online payments at overseas e-Commerce.

When I want to buy or sell Foreign Currency, do I have to link the Foreign Currency to my m-Card?

No. You can buy and sell Foreign Currency without linking it to m-Card.

Can I see the Foreign Currency balance at any ATMs located in Indonesia?

No. You can only see IDR Active Balance at ATMs in Indonesia. When m-Card is linked to a foreign currency, the ATMs will reject the transaction if you check your balance. You can check your Foreign Currency balance on Jenius app.

Can I make cash withdrawals at any ATMs in Indonesia when my m-Card is linked to my Jenius Foreign Currency?

No. You cannot make cash withdrawals at any ATMs in Indonesia when Foreign Currency is linked to your m-Card.

How much are the transaction fees for cash withdrawals at overseas ATMs if the m-Card I use is linked to a foreign currency?

– USD Active Balance: $1,5/transaction.
– SGD Active Balance: S$2,5/transaction.
– AUD Active Balance: A$2,5/transaction.
– HKD Active Balance HK$15/transaction.
– GBP Active Balance: £1,5/transaction.
– JPY Active Balance: Â¥200/transaction.
– EUR Active Balance: €2/transaction.
– THB Active Balance: ฿60/transaction.
– CNY Active Balance: Â¥15/transaction.

You will also be charged additional fees according to the ATMs from which you make cash withdrawals.

Can I make cash withdrawals and deposit Foreign Currency at BTPN branches?

No. Currently, you can’t make cash withdrawals and deposit Foreign Currency via BTPN branches.

You can only make Foreign Currency cash withdrawals at overseas ATMs and add Foreign Currency balances by buying it on Jenius app.

Other than cash withdrawals, what transactions can I do with Foreign Currency?

– Transactions on EDC machines overseas.
– Online transactions in overseas e-commerce sites

Ensure you have linked Foreign Currency to your m-Card so transactions can be processed using the foreign currency you want.

Can I make Foreign Currency transactions on EDC machines in Indonesia?

No. Currently, you can’t make transactions on EDC machines in Indonesia when Foreign Currency is linked to your m-Card.

Are there any additional fees when I make transactions using Foreign Currency linked to m-Card?

Can I make online transactions in overseas e-commerce sites using my Foreign Currency?

Yes. You can use your Foreign Currency to make transactions on all overseas e-Commerce sites while in Indonesia or abroad.

In addition, you can make payments using rupiah (IDR) or Foreign Currency linked to m-Card to make transactions in Indonesian e-Commerce as long as the chosen payment method uses the Visa network.

Can I make online transactions on overseas e-commerce sites that accept payments outside the available Foreign Currency on Jenius?

Yes. If the currency linked to your m-Card is IDR, the payment will immediately be converted to the applicable currency.

If Foreign Currency is linked to m-Card, the currency will be converted to IDR first, then it will be converted to the applicable currency in the e-Commerce site where you make the payment.

Can Jenius Debit Cards be linked to an e-wallet in China?

Yes. You can link m-Card with e-wallets in China, such as Alipay and WeChat Pay.

Can I send Foreign Currency using Jenius?

Yes. You can send Foreign Currency to Jenius, other domestic banks, and overseas banks, except for some countries that are included in the group of economic sanctions.

What is a sender’s bank?

A bank used by the sender to send Foreign Currency.

What is a beneficiary bank?

A bank used by the recipient to receive Foreign Currency.

What is a correspondent bank?

A bank that provides services to other banks or financial institutions abroad. This service includes Foreign Currency transfer.

What is the function of a correspondent bank?

Correspondent bank acts as an intermediary between a sender’s bank and a beneficiary bank in sending Foreign Currency.

What is the difference between correspondent bank and beneficiary bank?

A correspondent bank connects a sender’s bank (the bank you use to send Foreign Currency) and a beneficiary bank. Meanwhile, a beneficiary bank is a bank to which the Foreign Currency is sent.

How to send Foreign Currency to other banks on Jenius?

– On the line above Active Balance, choose Foreign Currency you want to send.
– Choose Send.
– Add recipient bank details (SWIFT code, IBAN code, sort code, and account number), then choose Next.
– Choose transaction purpose and complete recipient details, then choose Next.
– Make sure all the information are correct, then choose Yes, Continue.
– Input the amount you want to send, then choose Next. You can turn on the Full Amount button and add notes if needed.
– Check transaction details, learn and agree to Terms & Conditions, then choose Send Money.
– Input Jenius password, then choose Submit.
– Foreign currency transfer is being processed.

How to send Foreign Currency to Jenius users?

– On the line above Active Balance, choose Foreign Currency you want to send.
– Choose Send.
– Turn on Send to Jenius button.
– Input your recipient’s $Cashtag.
As information, you can use Foreign Currency account number as well.
– Tap Check to check the recipient details. If it’s correct, then choose Next.
– Input the amount of money you want to transfer and tap Next.

Can I see my Foreign Currency account number even though I don’t have a Foreign Currency balance?

No. You must activate Foreign Currency by adding the first balance into the Foreign Currency account.

How long does it take to send Foreign Currency on Jenius?

If you send it to other Jenius users, the process is instant and free of charge.

If you send it to other banks, it takes 2-5 working days after you send from Send It. However, depending on the beneficiary banks, the time required might be faster or slower.

You can contact the recipient to ensure your Foreign Currency has been sent.

No. You can send foreign currency as much as you want.

Are there Foreign Currency transfer fees on Jenius?

Send Foreign Currency to Jenius users is free of charge. However, if you send it to other banks, there are 2 fees applied:

1. Provision Fee of 0.125% x Total Transfer.
Minimum: 10 US dollars (equivalent)
Maximum: 150 US dollars (equivalent)

2. Telex fee of IDR50,000 (equivalent)

For Foreign Currency in United States dollars, there is a choice of a Full Amount Fee of 25 US dollars (equivalent).

Can I send Foreign Currency from my IDR Active Balance?

No. You have to use Foreign Currency balance.

What is SWIFT code?

SWIFT code (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) is a standard bank identification code or Bank Code Identifier (BIC). This code is for identifying banks in certain countries and branches. The SWIFT code consists of 8 – 11 letters (example: SUNIIDJAXXX) and is used for international bank transfers.

What is IBAN code?

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) code is a standard account numbering system. This code is used to identify individual accounts in international financial transactions.

The IBAN code consists of up to 34 letters and numbers (example: GB33BUKB20201555555555). This code is usually used for transactions with banks in Europe.

How do I get the SWIFT or IBAN codes of my recipient?

You can ask the recipient or search/verify the SWIFT or IBAN code at https://bank.codes/

When do I need SWIFT and IBAN codes when sending Foreign Currency?

You need a SWIFT code whenever you send Foreign Currency to identify a bank in a particular country or branch. While the IBAN code is required when you send Foreign Currency to European countries.

The IBAN code can also be used as the recipient’s account number. If your recipient doesn’t have an account number, you can use the IBAN code as an account number.

What is sort code?

A code to identify a bank branch office for transfers within a country. This code consists of 6 pairs of digits (example: 12-34-56) and is used in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

How do I get the sort code of my recipient?

You can ask your recipient for sort code.
The sort code can be found on a bank statement, debit card, or account book.

When do I need a sort code?

You need a sort code when sending Foreign Currency to the United Kingdom and Ireland. Please note that the sort code cannot replace the recipient’s account number.

What is Full Amount?

The fee you pay to ensure that your money is sent in full/according to the amount you input.

Can Telex Fee, Provision Fee or Full Amount be deducted from IDR Active Balance?

No. Telex, Provision, or Full Amount fees can only be deducted from the Foreign Currency balance you use for transfers.

Will the recipient get the same amount of money I sent?

It depends. The correspondent bank or the beneficiary bank may charge other fees. The amount and terms of this fee depending on each bank.

Why is there a correspondent bank fee that reduces the amount of money I send?

Because correspondent banks help you send money to the recipient account.

For information, correspondent banks or intermediary banks are banks that cooperate with other banks to provide foreign currency transfer services to each other.

The amount of fees charged by correspondent banks depends on the policies of each bank.

How do I know the transfer was successful?

Please contact your recipient to ensure the money you sent has been received.

What if I send money to the wrong account number?

You can call one of the following options:
– Beneficiary bank
– Jenius Help at 1500 365 or [email protected]
– Nearest Jenius booth
– Nearest BTPN branch.

What happens if the recipient’s account currency does not match the Foreign Currency I sent?

The beneficiary bank will convert the currency sent to the currency of the recipient’s account.

I entered wrong or incomplete recipient details, can the transfer be cancelled?

You can’t cancel a Foreign Currency transfer that has already been made. If you want to change the data, you must wait until the money is refunded.

What causes Foreign Currency transfers failed?

– The recipient’s account number and/or recipient’s data are incorrect or incomplete.
– The recipient is listed on the OJK Black List (Financial Services Authority), terrorist list, or National Black List.
– Transactions that require additional documents (eg, transaction invoices).
– Does not pass the AML (Anti-money laundering) screening.

If Foreign Currency transfer fails, will my money be refunded?

Yes. We will refund your money to the Foreign Currency balance you used. It’ll be recorded as Refund category on In & Out.

If Foreign Currency transfer fails, can I get a full refund?

Money will be refunded in full (including Provision Fee, Telex, and Full Amount Fee) if the transaction was canceled due to not passing the AML (Anti-money laundering) screening. Other than that, the refunded amount is the Transfer Amount.

Please note that the refund amount may not be the same as previous Transfer Amount. It depends on the prevailing exchange rate and the fees charged by the beneficiary bank or correspondent bank.

If Foreign Currency transfer fails, how long will it take for a refund?

We can’t confirm the refund time because it depends on the correspondent bank’s and beneficiary bank’s policies.

Can I receive Foreign Currency transfer on Jenius?

Yes. You can accept Foreign Currency from Jenius users and other banks worldwide.

What data must be filled in by the Foreign Currency sender in order to be received in my account?

Foreign Currency sender must fill in your data as the recipient (name, contact, address, etc.) according to the data registered with the Bank. For address data, the sender can enter your KTP address.

What will happen if the name of the recipient that the sender entered is different from the data registered with the bank?

If the name of the recipient that the sender entered is different from the name registered on the Bank, the Foreign Currency might be returned to the sender.

The bank will convert the foreign currency that was sent to the currency that matches your account number using the prevailing BTPN exchange rate at that time.

Why did the converted amount when I buy or sell Foreign Currency on Jenius differ from the simulation?

Because foreign currency exchange rates might change at any time according to economic conditions and Bank Indonesia policies.

Can I see a simulation of Foreign Currency exchange rates to another foreign currency?

No. You can only see exchange rate simulations from foreign currencies to rupiah or vice versa.

No. In & Out only stores Foreign Currency transactions for the last 6 months.

Are Foreign Currency history transactions recorded on Moneytory?

No. Moneytory only records transactions in Rupiah.

Can I still make transactions using Foreign Currency if my m-Card is blocked?

Yes. You can still buy, sell, transfer, and receive Foreign Currency when your m-Card is Temporarily Blocked.

If your m-Card is in Permanently Block, you can only buy and sell Foreign Currency.
